INTERSTATE 73 MEETING FEB. 2

New River Valley residents will get a chance to have their say about the new Interstate 73 highway - proposed from Detroit, Mich., to Charleston, S.C. - during a meeting Feb. 2.

The session will be held from 4 until 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn off U.S. 460.

The Blacksburg session is one of several the Virginia Department of Transportation is holding to hear from the public on the proposed road. The department is evaluating the environmental, economic, engineering and financial feasibility of an I-73 highway.

There will be no formal presentation during the meetings, and citizens may attend at any time to view maps and a video that present several possible corridor locations for I-73 through Virginia.

Comments and suggests are welcome at the meetings. Written comments also will be accepted within 10 days after the meetings to: R.C. Lockwood, Virginia Department of Transportation, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond, Va. 23219.
