HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT NAMES NEW ASSISTANT RESIDENT ENGINEER

David D. Clarke has been selected assistant resident engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation's Christiansburg Residency Office.

Clarke, of Roanoke, joins Resident Engineer Dan Brugh and Assistant Resident Engineer John Thompson in managing construction and maintenance activities in Montgomery, Pulaski and Giles counties.

He will direct the maintenance program.A civil engineering graduate of Virginia Tech, Clarke completed the department's three-year engineer trainee program last year.

Clarke also holds a degree in English from the University of Virginia, and he once worked as a reporter for a Williamsburg newspaper.
