Frank Williams has been re-elected director of the Kazim Brass Band.
J.R. "Ace" Wall was re-elected manager.

Floyd Ward dancers place in competition
Afton McGhee of the Floyd Ward School of Dance recently McGhee received the junior division solo high score award and tied for the third highest overall score for her ballet routine in the "Dance for the Gold" competition in Greensboro, N.C.
Other students from the school received 15 gold medals, 11 silver medals, two third-place ribbons and two fourth-place ribbons. Gold and silver medalists are eligible to participate at the national finals in Daytona Beach, Fla. in July.
The school received a participation award, a large-group high score award, a tie for the spirit award, 10 trophies for first-place group awards and several high scores for costumes.

Regional Boy Scout council receives award
The Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America has received a 1993 Good Citizenship Award from Winn-Dixie Stores Inc.
The council received the award and a monetary contribution for its exemplary work in youth services.
