Oakey's Vinton Chapel will provide an hour of visitation, three caskets and a graveside service for Tina Kane, 4; John Kane, 2; and Margaret Elizabeth Kane, almost 1. The children will be buried in plots donated by Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The childrens' aunt, Fran Shelor, said the funeral will be scheduled after their mother, Dorothy Kane, is released from the hospital. She is in an intensive-care unit at Roanoke Memorial Hospital being treated for burns and smoke inhalation. She was in serious condition and on a ventilator Wednesday.
Kenny Martin, Kane's boyfriend, who also lived in the mobile home, was treated Monday for burns to his face and hands and is staying with friends. He denied an interview request Wednesday.
A fund to help pay medical expenses has been established at Signet Bank in Vinton. Donations, payable to the Kane/Martin Foundation, may be sent to Signet Bank in care of Cindy Radford, 901 Hardy Road, Vinton 24179.
Offers of help continue to come in. In addition to several offers of caskets, at least one church group - from Beaverdam Baptist Church in Chamblissburg - will collect money Sunday to contribute to the fund. Neither Kane nor Martin had insurance.
A fire official thinks a kerosene heater started the blaze around 9:30 Monday morning. Although firefighters arrived at the Hardy Road Trailer Park within minutes, the mobile home was engulfed in flames.
A kerosene heater and a supply of kerosene were found outside the mobile home. Two heaters were found in the baby's bedroom, where all three bodies were found, said Stewartsville Fire Chief Mark Hartberger.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fire.
Ten Western Virginians have died in heating-related fires since Jan. 1. Heaters are the leading cause of fire deaths, according to a state official.
