OBIT POFF, MAXIE THOMPSON
POFF, Maxie Thompson, 84, of Salem, died Monday, January 17, 1994, in
Richfield Nursing Center. She was a life long Salem resident and was a member
of Fort Lewis Baptist Church for the past 50 years. She was preceded in death
by her husband, O.W. (Jack) Poff; a son, Billy O. Poff; grandson, J. W. Poff.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy E. Poff of Fincastle, Robert F. Poff of
Salem; two daughters and son-in-law, Aletha M. Loop of Salem, Betty and Fred
Whitt, Roanoke; one brother, Harold Thompson, Roanoke; two sisters, Patti
Wills, Fairfax, Bretha White, Lynchburg; 13 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Friday 11 a.m. in the John M.
Oakeys & Son Chapel, Salem by the Rev. Leonard Southern and Rev. J. W. Hatten.
Grandsons will be pallbearer. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
