TIME WARNER AIMS TO FEND OFF SEAGRAM'S

Just in case whiskey heir Edgar Bronfman Jr. has dreams of becoming the nation's next media mogul, Time Warner Inc. made it clear Thursday that his welcome there is limited.

One day after Bronfman, president of Seagram Company Ltd., raised his company's Time Warner holdings to 11.7 percent, the magazine, book and movie giant instituted a "poison pill" plan to fend off unwanted suitors.
