ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP TO MEET MONDAY

The New River Valley Environmental Coalition will meet Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the Virginia Tech Museum of Natural History, 428 N. Main St.

John Hughes, associate professor of civil engineering at Virginia Tech, will discuss coal-fired boilers, how they work and possible alterations to improve the facility design for the proposed coal-fired boiler at the Virginia Tech Power Plant.

Hughes, whose specialty is air-pollution controls, teaches environmental engineering.

The coalition meeting will follow the program.
