OBIT BOWMAN, DAVID LUTHER
BOWMAN, David Luther, 60, of Vinton, died, Wednesday, January 19, 1994. He
was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Sue
Hale Bowman; son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Cynthia L. Bowman, Long
Beach, Calif.; daughter, Debra B. Secrist of Salem; stepson and wife, Thomas
H. and Judy W. Robinson, Luray, Va.; stepdaughter and husband, Donna R. and
Scott W. Stanley of Salem; grandchildren, Eric and Neil Secrist, Daniel and
Jocelyn Bowman; stepgrandchildren, Lisa, Tommy, Mike, Katie Robinson, Kay
Stanley; survivors also includes his father, Rev. Luther D. Bowman; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Leslie Pugh, Lois and Ed Slusher, Chester Trail
all of Floyd Co., Ruby and Robert Castle of Troutville, Ed Hale of Vinton;
mother-in-law, Maude Hale, Vinton. David graduated from Bridgewater College
with a B.S. degree in chemistry and retired from Norfolk Southern as manager
of Shop Facilities after 35 years of service. He happily spent his retirement
years gardening, traveling, working with computers & devoting much time as
possible to his grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday, January
24, 1994, noon at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. David Yingling officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive
friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to
9 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
