OBIT MURPHY, WILLIAM FREDRICK

MURPHY, William Fredrick, 74, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 1994. Surviving are his wife, Irene Austin Murphy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Hugh Welborn, Anderson, S.C., Vicki and Alvin Boothe, Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Cheryl Murphy, Troutville; five grandchildren; two brothers, Guy Murphy, Kenner, La., James Murphy, Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters, Bessie Bailey, Durham, N.C., Rita Zimmerman, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James R. Millsaps. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's North Chapel.
