OBIT WILKES, HAAMAN ELWOOD

WILKES, Haaman Elwood, 71, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, January 19, 1994, in the Veterans Hospital in Salem. He was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines First Division in the Pacific. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Haaman Rodgers Wilkes and Elsie M. Wilkes; a brother, Floyd Duval Wilkes. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth A. and Joyce P. Wilkes, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Omar M. (Meddie) Patterson Jr., Richmond, Mrs. Henry W. (Ruth) Harvey, Roanoke; 12 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; one aunt, Mrs. R. R. Gallaher, Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, noon, Saturday by the Rev. Richard L. McNutt. The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. Friday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
