CHILDREN'S AUTHOR TO VISIT BRISTOL SCHOOL

George has just completed a sequel titled ``Julie'' to her 1973 Newbery Medal-winning book ``Julie of the Wolves.'' Another of her books, ``My Side of the Mountain,'' was made into a movie.

Other titles among her more than 50 children's books include the ``Thirteen Moon'' series and ``Who Really Killed Cock Robin?''

George will spend the day with Saint Anne students, including those in grades 3-6 who have read at least one of her books. At 7:30 p.m., the public will be invited to meet the author in the sanctuary of Saint Anne's Church. Tickets are free but must be reserved by calling 669-0048.

She will also renew her acquaintance with old friend Judith Rosenfeld, the school's librarian.

The school's Author's Day program is sponsored by Frank and Nancy DeFriece, to allow students and teachers to see writers as actual people.

George, who also illustrates, is a naturalist as was her father and as are her brothers and her two sons. She also has a daughter who develops educational materials about environmental issues.

Her books will be on sale for autographing.
