The first event, a bake sale, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at three locations in Christiansburg: Hill's Department Store, Kroger Co. on West Main Street and the Wal-Mart near U.S. 460 and Pepper's Ferry Road.
The second is a ``haircut-a-thon'' set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 at Creative Looks, 1601 N. Franklin St. in Christiansburg. The staff is donating its services and the haircuts will cost $5.
Also Feb. 6, the Young Women's Group of Main Street Baptist Church will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Christiansburg High School. The cost is $6 per adult or $3 per child. Pargo's Restaurant is donating the pasta and sauce.
Other tentative plans involve a dance at Christiansburg High School next month and an effort at Madison Middle School in Roanoke, where Vickie Wert teaches American studies.
Vickie Wert also is making small green ribbons for people to wear to show their support for her daughter.
