THE HELPERS OF THETA XI

At the bi-monthly meetings of Theta Xi, a career chapter of the service sorority Beta Sigma Phi, members pass around a calendar and mark dates and times during which they will help a single mother who has three preschool children. Some help her by cleaning or sitting; others visit or provide meals.

The 15-member chapter also serves the community by volunteering at the Montgomery County Christmas store, by donating children's books for waiting rooms at Montgomery Regional Hospital, and by helping to stock food pantries.

As part of the Adopt-a-Spot program, Theta Xi members care for Primrose Park in Blacksburg.
