GRAYSON COUNTY STOMPS SHAWSVILLE

Bryan Boyer scored 12 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter as Grayson County stomped Shawsville 88-51 in a Mountain Empire District boys' basketball game Friday night.

The Blue Devils (10-2 overall, 8-1 MED) ran to a 26-8 lead after one period and led 48-16 at the half. Eleven Grayson County players scored.

Landon Testerman added 10 points for the Blue Devils.

Darrell Bibb led winless Shawsville with 23 points. \

Rocky Gap 60

MAX MEADOWS - Dyer Jackson scored 27 points, and Jody Burnett added 25 points and a career-high 21 rebounds as the Pioneers beat the Eagles in a Mountain Empire District game.

Will Dodson led Rocky Gap with 16 points.

Fort Chiswell (2-6, 2-5) grabbed a 32-22 halftime lead and held on for the win despite being outscored in the second half. \

Rural Retreat 53

WYTHEVILLE - Aaron Andrews scored a game-high 22 points and Andre Cook added 13 as the Maroons whipped the Indians in a Hogoheegee District contest.

George Wythe (6-4, 5-1) connected on 27 of 34 free throws and outrebounded Rural Retreat 41-26.

Stephen Pratt led the Indians with 13 points.

The Maroons outscored the Indians in all four quarters. \
