OBIT MILLS, ARNOLD V.
MILLS, Arnold V., of Salem, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 1994, at
Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem, Va. He was a retired construction superintendent
from J. M. Turner Co., Inc., and was a member of Roanoke Moose Lodge #0284
since 1965. He was a member in good standing of the Salem Hardees "Retiree
Club" and was known for his "tall tales" all true, of course. He was born
September 30, 1930, in Franklin County, son of the late Stanley Ward Mills and
Folsom Wood Mills and was preceded in death by his brothers, Otho and Alvie
Mills. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 19 years, Frances Cosby Mills of
Salem. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilfred ("Wick") and
Esther Mills, Salem; Clinton and Marie Mills, Roanoke, Wendell and Norma
Mills, Roanoke; and sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth M. Green, Roanoke, Audrey
Mills, Roanoke, Irthel and Lewis Simpson, Blountville, Tenn.; sister-in-law,
Tidie Mills, Roanoke; and special nephew, John Wesley Mills and his wife,
Helen, Montvale; also surviving are extended family members, William C. Cosby
Jr., Jane Ambrose-Cosby, James G. Cosby, and Noel B. Cosby. The family will
receive visitors Friday, January 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the
John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The funeral will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday, January 22, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Chapel Salem with the
Rev. Michael Slaughter and Father James E. Parke officiating. Interment will
be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Airport Rd. Memorials may be made to the
charity of your choice.
