OBIT HARPER, BESSIE KITTINGER

HARPER, Bessie Kittinger, 98, of Roanoke, died Thursday, January 20, 1994. She was the widow of Samuel G. Harper Jr. and was preceded in death by three of her sons, Joseph Harper, Carlos Harper, and David Harper. Mrs. Harper was a member of Airlee Court Baptist Church and was formerly a member of Melrose Baptist. Surviving are her son and daughters-in-law, Donald E. and Beverley T. Harper, Roanoke, Eva H. Harper, Daleville, Barbara H. Harper, Vinton; grandchildren, Alwyn C. Harper and wife, Sandra, Roanoke, Gary E. Harper and wife, Carol, Charlottesville, Larry T. Harper and wife, Mary Ann, The Woodlands, Texas, Karl L. Harper, Richmond, Keith R. Harper and wife, Romany, Stuarts Draft, Kara H. Dance and her husband, Kevin, Vinton; seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Building Fund at Airlee Court Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday at Airlee Court Baptist Church by the Rev. Olin V. Glidden and the Rev. Eugene Burris. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.
