OBIT WALDROP, JOHN BEAR
WALDROP, John Bear, 75, of 507 Wellington Drive, Lynchburg, died January
20, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born in Roanoke on June 28,
1918 to the late Alexander A. Waldrop Sr. and Carolyn Bear Waldrop. He was a
retired real estate broker for Ford-Garbee, a former member of Roanoke City
Council, Forest Lions Club #32 Mason Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and a
member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean
McGure Waldrop; three children, Mrs. Joe (Susan) Waldrop Donckers, Blacksburg,
Dr. William M. Waldrop, Norfolk, Mary M. Waldrop, Forest; two brothers,
Alexander A. Waldrop Jr., Roanoke, Louis S. Waldrop, Salem; two grandchildren,
Kathryn Donckers Roseveare, Lynchburg, Joseph Michael Donckers, Greenville,
N.C. A funeral service will be conducted Monday 1 p.m. in St. Stephen
Episcopal Church by Dr. George Bean. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery. The family will be at the residence and suggest memorials be sent to
St. Stephens Building Fund, Forest Lions Club or U.VA. Student Aid, P.O. Box
7525, Charlottesville, Va. 22906. Diuguid Waterlick Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.
