SCHEDULE FOR ISLAMIC AWARENESS WEEK

Monday: H. Rap Brown, former Black Panther known for the statement, "Violence is as American as cherry pie," will speak about how Islam changed his life. Brown converted to Islam in prison in 1971 and now goes by Jameel Al Amin; 7 p.m., Colonial Hall in Squires Student Center on Virginia Tech campus.

Tuesday: A panel of non-Islamic and Islamic scholars will discuss misconceptions about Islam. Radford professor Abdul Turay will moderate; 7 p.m., Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center auditorium on the Virginia Tech campus.

Wednesday: A movie on the tenets of Islam produced by the Christian Science Monitor will be shown; 7 p.m., Haymarket Theater in Squires Student Center.

Thursday, Radford art professor Halide Salam will give a talk about Islam's contributions to science and art; 7 p.m., Donaldson Brown auditorium.

All events are free and open to the public. All events will be followed by a reception.
