BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE TO EXPLORE APPEAL

The Big South Conference's basketball committee will meet Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C., to examine the process of making an appeal to keep the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 1995.

The Big South will lose its bid when Campbell leaves the conference June 30.

To be eligible for an automatic bid, a league must have six members who have been in the conference for five years or longer.

Campbell's departure will leave the Big South with five members with five years' standing.

The Big South's basketball committee consists of league commissioner Buddy Sasser and the athletic directors from four schools: Chuck Taylor (Radford), Nelson Bobb (UNC Greensboro), Steve Vacendak (Winthrop) and Tom Hunnicutt (UNC Asheville). - Staff report
