Covington (4-7 overall, 2-1 district) jumped to a 9-0 lead and never trailed.
Bath County (5-6, 2-3) cut the Cougars' lead to one point twice in the last minute of the game, but Covington's free-throw shooting - 12 of 15 in the final quarter - sealed the verdict.
Patrick Lennon led Bath County with 14 points. \

Grayson County 71, Giles 56: At Independence, Bryan Boyer scored a game-high 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had three steals as the Blue Devils whipped the Spartans in a Mountain Empire District game.
Giles (1-6, 1-4) led 29-28 at halftime, but Boyer scored 10 points in the third period as Grayson County (11-2, 9-1) retook the lead.
Aaron Myers led the Spartans with 22 points. \
Floyd County 80, Rocky Gap 48: At Floyd, Jason Light had 26 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks as the Buffaloes stomped the Eagles in a Mountain Empire District matchup.
Floyd County (8-1, 7-1) led 47-18 at halftime and coasted to victory.
Kevin DeHart led Rocky Gap with 13 points. \
Magna Vista 98, Patrick County 50: At Ridgeway, the Warriors jumped to a 26-7 lead after one quarter and blasted the Cougars in a Piedmont District clash.
Magna Vista (7-3, 7-3) was led by Jermaine Simmons' 16 points and Matt Spencer's 13 points. Patrick County was led by Christian Batcheller and Justin Mchone, who scored 11 points apiece. \
Chilhowie 68, Rural Retreat 51: At Chilhowie, Andy Blevins and D.J. Preston scored 21 points apiece as the Warriors raced past the Indians in a Hogoheegee District game.
Stephen Pratt led Rural Retreat (5-2, 4-2) with a game-high 24 points. The Warriors took a 22-7 lead after one quarter and coasted from there. \
Carlisle 68, South Hall Christian 54: At Martinsville, Rod Mitchell scored nine of his 19 points in the third quarter as the Chiefs whipped South Hall in a non-conference game.
Carlisle (3-10) led 27-19 at halftime and extended its margin with a 25-12 third period. Kevin Warren added 12 points for the Chiefs. \
Alleghany 96, Glenvar 85: At Low Moor, Todd Wheatley had 28 points, 10 rebounds and six steals as the Mountaineers rolled past the Highlanders in a non-district game.
Wheatley scored 15 of his points in the first quarter as Alleghany (6-5) took a 26-12 first-quarter lead. The Mountaineers led 45-33 at halftime and held a double-digit lead throughout the second half as they coasted to victory.
Todd Crawford scored 20 points for Alleghany. Jason Anderson scored 25 points and Brad Melton added 23 for Glenvar (6-3). \
