Using a 12-2 run to open the second half and a 19-5 spurt to end the game, the Highlanders (12-3 overall, 7-1 Big South) won their sixth consecutive game and their 11th in their past 12.
Tyrone Travis led four Radford scorers in double figures with 15 points. He also grabbed 13 rebounds. Anthony Walker added 13 points.
KeKe Hicks paced the Chanticleers (7-7, 2-4) with 18 points.
With 6 minutes, 24 seconds remaining in the game, Coastal held a 51-50 lead after Mohammed Acha's layup.
But Radford responded with a game-ending 19-5 run to grab the victory. The Highlanders were 8-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final 50 seconds.
Before their game-ending run, the Highlanders used a 12-2 spurt to start the second half and took a 40-34 lead with 13:48 remaining.
The Chanticleers, who have lost four in a row, then rallied but could not match Radford's second big run of the second half.
Ron Bradley, the Highlanders' coach, said reserve forward Antoine Dalton gave Radford the lift it needed. Dalton scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
Acha scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, his third double-double of the season and the 15th of his career.
