CALDWELL LIFTS ROANOKE OVER RANDOLPH-MACON

Kay Caldwell scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Roanoke College whipped Randolph-Macon 75-49 on Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game at the Bast Center.

The Maroons (9-4 overall, 7-0 ODAC) led 31-30 at the half and dominated the second half, holding Randolph-Macon (10-4, 7-2) to 19.4 percent field-goal shooting in the half and 24.6 percent accuracy for the game.

Crystal Wilson added 14 points and seven rebounds for Roanoke.

\ No. 12 Virginia 88, Georgia Tech 75: In Charlottesville, Wendy Palmer had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Cavaliers defeated the Yellow Jackets in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Virginia (13-2, 6-0) shot 59 percent from the field in the first half, its best first-half showing of the season. The Cavaliers losed the first half with a 14-2 run to lead 51-35.

UVa led by as many as 20 points in the second half.

\ Radford 71, Winthrop 51: In Radford, the Highlanders coasted to a 43-23 halftime lead and whipped the Eagles in a Big South Conference game.

Samantha Gilbert led Radford (7-6, 5-2) with 17 points and Nicole Gardiner added 10. The Highlanders shot 48.5 percent from the field and were helped by Winthrop's 33 turnovers. The Eagles (1-13, 1-7) shot 38.5 percent from the field and missed 12 of 22 free throws.
