OBIT MATTHEWS, KATHERINE MITCHELL
MATTHEWS, Katherine Mitchell, 93, of Route 1, Callaway, died Saturday,
January 22, 1994 at the local hospital. She was retired from Appalachian Power
Company with over 35 years service. Mrs. Matthews was a charter member of
Waverly Place Baptist Church, Roanoke and was at the time of her death a
member of Fairmont Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Gobble
Wills, Richmond; one stepdaughter, Edna Presnell, Catawba; grandson, Leonard
White II and wife, Paige, Chesterfield; stepgrandson, Barry and Debbie
Presnell, Goodview; great-granddaughter, Rebel Anne White, Chesterfield; seven
stepgreat-grandchildren; a number of stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 1 p.m. Monday with the
Rev. Robert J. Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in Fair View
Cemetery, Roanoke. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday where the family
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 342 South Main
Street, Rocky Mount.
