OBIT SCOTT, WILLIAM BASIL
SCOTT, William Basil, 73, of Lexington, died Sunday, January 23, 1994, at
Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born in Rockbridge Co., November 6, 1920,
the son of the late Howard C. and Lucy Montgomery Scott. He was married to the
late Geneva Hostetter Scott. Known as "Scotty" to many friends and customers,
he was a Master Mechanic and owner of Scott's Gulf in Lexington for over 20
years. Scotty always valued the friendship and trust of his many friends and
customers. Basil was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church, the
Effinger Ruritan and the Lexington IOOF. Basil is survived by his children,
William Willard and Dottie Scott of Richmond and Elaine Scott and Robert Reid
of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; his grandchildren, Stacy Scott Rhodes, Ginger
Scott Collison, William J. Scott, Robert S. Reid, Brian W. Reid, James M. Reid
and John Basil Reid; his brothers and sisters by marriage, Ethel Wright, Ralph
Hostetter, Kathleen Clark and Herbert Hostetter; other in-laws, nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 1994,
from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with Dr. L. Randolph Harrison officiating,
with burial in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial
contributions be made to the Lexington Life Saving & First Aid Crew or the
Lexington Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8
p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home.
