LISTER, Clara Virginia, 68, of Topeka, Kan., died Friday, January 21, 1994
at a Topeka hospital. She was born September 29, 1925 at Bluff City, Va. the
daughter of Charles and Bell Hodge Akers. She had lived in Topeka for 45
years. She was a Nurses Aid at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka for 10 years.
She was a member of Northland Christian Church, the Christian Womens
Fellowship, Loyal Workers Sunday School Class teacher, A.A.R.P., past
president of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and active
with Blue Birds and Boy Scouts. She married Scott Burne Lister at Topeka on
April 9, 1950. He died January 8, 1985. Survivors include one daughter,
Shirley Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Gary Lister of Holton, Kan.;
one brother, Claude "Dick" Akers of Christiansburg; six grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Northland Christian Church with burial in
Rochester Cemetery, Topeka, Kan. The body will lie in state from 8 a.m. to 9
p.m. Sunday at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home where the family will meet
with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Northland
Christian Church, 3102 N. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kan. 66607.
