ROANOKE VALLEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The small 0.2 percent increase in consumer prices last month left the index figure unchanged.

The index stood at 145.8 percent in both December and November, compared with 141.9 in December 1992. That means goods and services costing $141.90 a year ago carried a price tag of $145.80 in December.

The inflation rate for 1993 was 2.7 percent.

Last week's snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures affected coal loadings by Norfolk Southern Corp. The railroad loaded 11,023 coal cars last week, compared with 20,192 the prior week and 19,334 in the comparable week a year ago.
