ABU DHABI ROYALTY STRIKES BCCI DEAL

WASHINGTON - The royal family of Abu Dhabi has dropped claims to some $400 million in U.S. assets, complying with part of its non-prosecution agreement in the Bank of Credit and Commerce International scandal, the Justice Department said Monday.

Abu Dhabi, also will extradite Swaleh Naqvi, the top deputy to BCCI's founder, to face fraud charges in the United States. U.S. prosecutors agreed not to pursue criminal charges against the ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, who had been the majority shareholder in the defunct BCCI, officials said.
