UVA COACH UHLER IN OLYMPIC FESTIVAL

Virginia volleyball coach Karen Uhler will head the East women's squad at the 1994 United States Olympic Festival July 1-10 in St. Louis.

Uhler was the women's assistant coach for the '93 East squad, which won the silver medal at the Olympic Festival.

Pati Rolf, head coach at Minnesota-Duluth, will be Uhler's assistant.

The Olympic Festival volleball competition will be held July 5-9 at Washington University.

Five Virginia Cavaliers football players have received ACC All-Academic Team honors.

To be eligible for the team, a player must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the fall semester or have maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.

Offensive lineman Jim Reid (3.27), running back Charles Way(3.14), kicker Kyle Kirkeide (3.18), defensive lineman Mike Frederick (3.17) and linebacker Thomas Burns (4.0) made the team.

Also on the squad was Florida State quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward (3.75).

Virginia, Florida State and Duke each placed five players on the team.
