No charges have been filed against Jonathan Jackson. He was named in court papers seeking authorization to tap the phones of Nigerian citizen Pius Ailemen. An indictment in San Francisco charges Ailemen with leading an Oakland-based heroin smuggling network.
"I've played by the rules," said Jackson, 28, a clerk at the Chicago Board of Trade. "I know Mr. Ailemen. I know nothing of Mr. Ailemen and drugs."
Jonathan Jackson said he discussed legitimate business by phone with Ailemen. An assistant U.S. attorney in the case, Theresa Canepa, said that was possible, the San Francisco Examiner reported.
A federal Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit says "a Jonathan" from Chicago called Ailemen on Aug. 20 and asked whether a certain person sold oil. "Agents believe that oil is a code word for narcotics," the document says.
Jackson said he was looking for real oil.
