IN OTHER ACTION MONDAY ROANOKE CITY COUNCIL: Allotted more money for snow removal: Public Works Director William Clark said the city has spent $233,500 for snow and ice removal this winter. This has included nearly $95,000 for regular and overtime pay for snow-removal crews and more than $90,000 for rock salt and other chemicals to melt snow and ice. Council approved $58,000 in budget transfers to help cover part of the costs.
Approved a new bus contract: Council approved a three-year extension of a contract with ATE Management and Service Co. to manage Valley Metro. ATE has managed the bus system since the city acquired it in 1974.
Bought a new fire truck: Council accepted a $233,390 bid from KME Fire Apparatus for a new pumping engine and a $37,746 bid from Linear Dynamics for 7,200 gallons of paint for marking city streets.
