McGill, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound quarterback, passed for 1,333 yards and 15 touchdowns and ran for more than 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns for Gaffney High School, which was ranked No. 15 in the country before finishing 14-1.
Several publications had portrayed McGill as Georgia Tech-bound before he visited UVa and committed over the weekend. The Cavaliers plan to give him a look at quarterback, but he also has attracted their interest as a possible wide receiver or defensive back.
Virginia has received 13 commitments. Defensive lineman Maurice "Mo" Anderson from Fork Union Military Academy called off a news conference Monday and says he will announce his decision Sunday. The Cavaliers remain in the lead, sources said.

\ MANNING CHOOSES TENNESSEE: Peyton Manning, the quarterback who is a son of former NFL star Archie Manning, has decided to attend Tennessee instead of Florida, Michigan or Mississippi.
Manning was the second quarterback in two days to announce a commitment to Tennessee. The first was Branndon Stewart, the top quarterback in Texas, who was rated SuperPrep's southwest offensive player of the year.
Peyton Manning, 6-feet-5, 205-pounds, passed for 7,190 yards and 93 touchdowns at Newman High School, a small private school in New Orleans. He was a Parade All-American.
