MAIN ST. GALLERY STILL IN BUSINESS

Main Street Gallery is still open for business in downtown Pulaski despite a report that it would close at the first of the year.

The business is one of the early stores to open on Pulaski's Main Street under a revived recruitment program during the past year by Pulaski Main Street Executive Director Roscoe Cox.

A report from the Main Street program on the new businesses to Pulaski Town Council last year indicated that plans were to close Main Street Gallery. The arts store, which is a distributor of works by artist P. Buckly Moss, branched out from the earlier C&S Gallery in Dublin.

Jeanette Stephens operates both stores and was having to spread herself thin to do it. But she said Tuesday that the Pulaski store will be open for business until further notice and could continue for the foreseeable future.

``We did have a very good first six months up here in Pulaski,'' she said. ``We are open and we have enjoyed a very good business on the street.''

She said she was optimistic about the future of both stores at this point. Besides artwork, the stores feature custom framing, collectible plates, figurines and gifts.
