N.C. MAN COLLECTS VA. JACKPOT

A North Carolinian won Wednesday's $2.1 million Virginia lottery jackpot.

Russell D. Napier of Peachland said he couldn't believe that the numbers he guessed, 4-11-19-30-31-39, were the winning combination.

"I asked the clerk to run my ticket through the terminal just to be sure," Napier said.

That was Thursday morning. He called his family to tell them the news. Then he called tell his employer he would not be in because he had to drive to Roanoke to claim his millions at the regional lottery office.

Napier works for Process Mechanical Piping in Peachland. He had been working on a job in Fieldale and bought his ticket in Collinsville.

The store will receive $5,000 for selling the ticket. Napier will receive a first payment of $110,882 and 19 additional payments of $108,000. After taxes, that comes to $75,399 for the first payment and $73,440 for the other payments.
