OBIT--CROWE, JOHN DAVID, ("SKIP")
CROWE, John David, ("Skip"), 51, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, January 26,
1994, in a local hospital. He was a writer and had published three books on
Japanese Culture. He did volunteer work for the City Rescue Mission. He was a
copy editor for the Roanoke Times & World-News who wrote headlines, photo
captions and edited stories. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth N. Crowe; a
daughter, Marian Cockrell Crowe; two sons, Francis Marian Crowe and Jefferson
Antion Crowe, all of Roanoke; his parents, John O. and Irene Jankowski Crowe,
Roanoke. A memorial service will be at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2 p.m.
Saturday with the Rev. Tom O'Dell, the Rev. Kirk Brown and the Rev. Carlotta
Cochran officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be
made to the Roanoke City Rescue Mission. There will be a visitation after the
service in the Chapel of St. John's Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Oakey's
Roanoke.
