OBIT--APPERSON, ELLEN COSBY CARTER

APPERSON, Ellen Cosby Carter, of Richmond, widow of Dr. William Eugene Apperson, died Thursday, January 27, 1994, at the home of her daughter, Dr. Margaret Ellen Mayo of Richmond. She is survived also by her son, William Eugene Apperson Jr., Suffolk; two grandchildren, William Eugene Apperson III, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Heather Leah Apperson, Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth R. Hiner, Richmond; and two brothers, Howard Cosby Carter, Halifax, and James Frank Carter Jr., Hampton. A service will be conducted at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29. Interment in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Halifax at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the William E. Apperson Memorial Fund for Tuberculosis Education, American Lung Association of Virginia, P.O. Box 7065, Richmond, Va. 23221.
