SMITH-ELLIS

Beverly Frances Ellis and Gary Neil Smith, Sr., were married December 18, 1993, in Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Moneta, Va. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Riley Smith, Jr., brother of the groom. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. The matron of honor was Vicki Mason, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Wanda andDanita Ellis, sisters-in-law of the bride, Jennifer Ellis, niece of the bride, and Karie Smith, daughter of the groom. Flowergirl was Mary Teresa Porter, friend of the bride. The best man was Danny Taylor, friend of the groom. Ushers were Jon and David Ellis, brothers of the bride, Christopher Ellis, nephew of the bride, and Gary Neil Smith, Jr., son of the groom. Ringbearer was Daryl Porter, friend of the bride. The candlelighters were Jon and David Ellis, brothers of the bride. Lisa Dameron, sister of the groom, was the organist. Theresa Davis and Rodney Wallace, friends of the bride, were the soloists, accompanied by Sandra Watson. The wedding was directed by Charles and Elizabeth Ellis, uncle and aunt of the bride. The bride's gown was white satin with a Queen Anne neckline. The bodice and shirt featured scrolled pearling and lace appliques. The cathedral train was decorated with pearl scrolling and was topped by a rosette bow. She carried a cascading bouquet of white orchids, red and white sweetheart roses, and stephanotis. The bride is a daughter of John and Frances Ellis, of Vinton, Va. She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Ellis. She graduated from Northside High School, Roanoke Memorial Hospitals School of Professional Nursing, received a B.S.N. from the University of Virginia; and an M.S.N. from Radford University. She is employed as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College of Nursing. The bridegroom is a son of Riley and Chris Smith, of Covington, Va. He graduated from Alleghany High School and received an A.A.S. from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. He is employed as an Instrument Mechanic at Westvaco. After the wedding trip to the Bahamas, the newlyweds will live in Covington.
