OBIT-SOWERS, OAKIE F.

SOWERS, Oakie F., 91, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, January 29, 1994, to be with our Lord. He was a member and former deacon at the New Life Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his sons, Oliver and Dexter Sowers; four brothers, Olin, Tellie, John and Lawrence Sowers. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lillian Harris Sowers; daughters and sons-in-law, Learlene and Alton Wilmer, Hilda and Wilton Slone, Zennia and LeRoy Crouch all of Roanoke, Norma Jean and Jack Scaggs, Bedford, Janette S. Roberson, Roanoke; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Hall, Floyd, Celia Lam of Montvale, Vivian Helms, Floyd. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Walter L. Wood. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.
