Republic, which also has a regional office in Atlanta, was the successful bidder for the business last fall. The contract was awarded by Roanoke City Council.
The city owns the seven locations.
Valley Metro formerly operated four of the lots: the First Union Tower, Market Square, Century Station and Williamson Road parking garages. Allright Parking Co. has operated three other locations: the Church Avenue parking garage, a lot at the corner of Williamson Road and Tazewell Avenue, and a lot under the Williamson Road viaduct.
The city sets parking rates in the five garages. Republic spokesmen were not available Monday to say whether rates would change at the parking lots.
Allright Parking still operates about 35 other parking lots in Roanoke.
