SMITH POWERS RAIDERS

Junior forward Monty Smith scored 33 points to lead North Cross to a 90-72 Virginia Independent Conference victory over Carlisle in boys' basketball Tuesday.

Senior guard Marcus Cardwell added 25 points and junior center Hal Johnson had 17 for the Raiders (8-6 overall, 7-2 district), who led 42-35 at halftime.

Kevin Warren paced Carlisle (4-12, 2-7) with 24 points. Rod Mitchell added 19 for the Chiefs, and Ryan Smith scored 11. \
