OBIT MAYHEW, DEWEY BENNETT
MAYHEW, Dewey Bennett, 74, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, February 1, 1994, at a
local hospital. He was the son of the late John Quince and Lula Carter Mayhew.
He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Mayhew had retired from General Electric
Company and was a member of the Windsor Hills United Methodist Church he also
belonged to the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge #324 AF & AM. Mr. Mayhew was
also a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees and the local
Lost Chord Support Group. He is survived by his wife, Jean Brice Mayhew; a
daughter, Karen J. Mayhew, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Kristine and
Leslie Enright, Sicily Island, La.; son and daughter-in-law, D. Bennett and
Mollie Mayhew, Lynchburg; four grandchildren; two sisters, Addie Kendrick,
Bedford, Elzie Schlosser, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's
South Chapel 3 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. D. Michael Meloy officiating.
Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park with masonic grave rites by
the Virginia Heights Masonic Lodge. Donations may be made to the Cave Spring
Rescue Squad or to the Good Samaritian Hospice. The family will receive
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's South Chapel.
