OBIT SMOOT, THOMAS EDWARD, ("EDDIE")
SMOOT, Thomas Edward, ("Eddie"), 89, of Roanoke County, formerly of Boca
Raton, Fla., died Monday, January 31, 1994, to go home to be with his Lord. He
was born in Arlington, Va., January 13, 1905, the son of the late Howard A.
and Stella Mae Veitch Smoot. He was a tile contractor and home builder in
Northern, Va., having owned his own business. Mr. Smoot was preceded in death
by his wife, Helen Revelle Smoot in August, 1989, and is survived by his son
and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joyce Ann Fry, Beaulaville, N.C.; his
daughters and sons-in-law, Chris and Ray Leibensperger, Deland, Fla., Donna
and Robert Marro, Delray Beach, Fla., Anne and Michael Joyner, Boca Raton,
Fla., Jane and Steven Dyer, Roanoke Co.; a sister, Virginia Gladwell,
Alexandria; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be
held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel Thursday, February 3, at 7 p.m. with the Rev.
Doyal Spence officiating. Entombment will be in Boca Raton Mausoleum, Boca
Raton, Fla., Saturday, February 5, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests memorial donations to First Baptist Church in his memory. Friends may
call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel after noon Thursday.
