OBIT WOODS, VIRGINIA ROSE SMITH

WOODS, Virginia Rose Smith, 76, of New Castle, died Monday, January 31, 1994, at her sister-in-law's home in Crozet, Va. She was born October 19, 1917, the daughter of the late (Captain) John Henry Smith and Mary Elizabeth Saunders. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Albert Garfield Woods and two brothers, Marshall Henry Smith and Lee Wallace Smith. Surviving are two sons, James A. Woods and wife, Linda of Crozet, Thomas L. Woods and wife, Janet of Scottsville; two daughters, Katherine and husband, Cyrus McCormick of New Castle, Margaret and husband, Thomas Gwinn of Stuarts Draft; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mabel Smith of Crozet, Josephine Dudding of Salem, Elsie Woods of New Castle; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Woods lived her faith daily, caring for and nurturing those around her. She was a member of the Paxton Chapel Building Fund. The family suggests donations be made to the Paxton Chapel building fund, c/o Mrs. Joe Oiler, Rt. 3, Highway 604, New Castle, Va. 24127. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 1994, at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Crozet, Va. Also, the family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 1994, 7 to 8 p.m., at Boitnotts Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held in Williams Cemetery, New Castle, Va., 11 a.m., with the Rev. Kenneth Davis officiating. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
