In a holy place,
So is the beauty
Of an aged face.

\ The NEW RIVER VALLEY AGENCY ON AGING offers many services for the 60-, 70-, 80-, 90- and 100-something folks. Nutrition services include home delivered meals, group meals and assistance with shopping and planning meals.
The homebound meal program operates Monday through Friday, serving nearly 300 people on about a dozen delivery routes throughout the valley.
Congregate meal programs are held three days a week at six sites in the New River Valley. A side benefit to coming to this meal is the opportunity to socialize.
The agency offers a homemaker service, case management service, employment service and can arrange for medical transportation. The homemaker service provides two to three hours per week of assistance with housekeeping, shopping and errands.
Case management services are available for those who need personal assistance with two or more fundamental daily tasks, like bathing, dressing and eating. A caregiver identifies services and equipment needed and helps make arrangements to enable the older person to remain in the home environment.
Employment services include help with skill training, resume preparation and interviewing techniques.
Some services are free, and others carry a charge based on a sliding scale fee and adjusted income figures. For more information, contact one of the agency's offices at 639-9677 or 980-7720.
