STORE TO AWARD GRANTS FOR LITERACY PROJECTS

Roanoke 7-Eleven stores are soliciting applications for the Chesapeake Division's 1994 People Who Read Achieve literacy grants.

The program is trying to increase public awareness of illiteracy, which affects more than 1.5 million people in the Chesapeake region including Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

Grants of $500 to $2,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis in May to nonprofit community-based organizations. More than $500,000 in grants have been awarded since the program began in 1989.

For more information or to receive a grant application, call 658-8520.
