FORT CHISWELL ROLLS

Fort Chiswell led by 13 points after the first quarter and defeated Shawsville 80-65 in a Mountain Empire District basketball game Wednesday.

Dyer Jackson had 25 points and Jody Burnett 23 for Fort Chiswell. Jeremy Nichols led the Shawnees (0-13, 0-11) with 20 points. \

BLAND - Shannon Havens had 36 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a Mountain Empire District victory. Bland (8-7, 7-5) staved off a late rally by the Green Wave, which got a pair of 3-point goals from Patrick Bailey in the final minute.
