OBIT VEST, HURSLE ADELL

VEST, Hursle Adell, 87, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, February 1, 1994, after a long struggle with cancer. She was a life time member of First Church of the Brethren and was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Howard Vest and one sister, Juanita Alderman of Roanoke; and two brothers, Lester K. Bower, Salem, William T. Bower, Florida. Surviving are two daughters, Iris Jean Oakes, Roanoke, Betty Shields of Maryland; one son, Lawrence Howard (Buddy) Vest, Roanoke; three sisters, Thelma Price, Roanoke, Ruth Webb, Salem, Kitty Adams, Roanoke; two brothers, Arthur C. Bower Jr., Vinton, Edward Bower, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 11 a.m. Friday the Rev. Paul Alwine and Pastor Cindy Barnum-Steggerda will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
