OBIT ATKINSON, CURTIS GORDON

ATKINSON, Curtis Gordon, 64, of Boones Mill, died Monday, January 31, 1994 at the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service and a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service. Surviving is his wife, Virginia Mae Atkinson, of Boones Mill; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Curtis Gordon II and Carol Atkinson of Roanoke, Charles S. Atkinson of Frederick, Md., Carl W. and Janet Atkinson of Boones Mill, Jacob L. and Donna Atkinson of Hardy, and Deris A. Atkinson, at home. Three daughters and one son-in-law, Vicki G. and Terry Barnette of Roanoke, Sherrie A. Hammerstrong of Roanoke, Rhonda L. Atkinson of Rocky Mount; 13 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Claudia Colombo of Ninety-Six, SC and Nancy Richardson of Virginia Beach. Funeral will be Friday, 11 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd, with Mr. William Neilson officiating with interment in Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd.
