SEAMAN GREGORY M. MacMACKIN, son of Gary M. and Teresa L. MacMackin of Blue Ridge, has completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego.

MacMackin is a 1993 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

\ PVT. GARY R. WELLS, son of Archie G. and Ellen V. Wells of 5167 Beason Lane, Salem, has completed Army basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

\ SGT. DENNIS D. MINNICK, son of Rita M. Grisso of 6480 Ran Lynn Drive, recently was promoted to his present rank.

Minnick, stationed at Marine Air Corps Station, Beaufort, S.C., received the accelerated promotion for outstanding performance of duty, proficiency and professional abilities.
