Brooks, selected one of the Top 5 prospects in the state by the Roanoke Times & World-News, was rated the No. 6 quarterback in the country by SuperPrep Magazine before the season.
After passing for 2,103 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, Brooks saw his numbers drop to 1,055 yards and five touchdowns this year but still attracted the interest of UVa, Maryland, Missouri, Clemson and Georgia Tech.
Brooks, who has met NCAA academic standards with more than 700 on the Scholastic Assessment Test, brings to 18 the number of players who have committed to Virginia. The Cavaliers have not released a list of signees.
Ferguson coach Tommy Reamon, who runs a pro-style offense, said he thinks Brooks (6 feet 4 1/2, 175 pounds) has the ability to play immediately but would be best served by a red-shirt year.
UVa was not on Brooks' original list of 10 schools but gradually improved its stock during the season.
