James River (2-8) led 69-67 when Keith Bryant scored on the inside with 15 seconds left. The Wildcats misfired on their next possession, and the ball went out of bounds to James River. The Knights missed a shot with seven seconds left before Wright's heroics ended the game.
Marty Early poured in 33 points for Rockbridge County, 24 in the first half.
James River got 16 points from Bryant, 13 from Isaac Minnis and 12 from Jason Peery. \
Bland 65, Narrows 62: In Bland, Shannon Havens had 36 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a Mountain Empire District victory.
Bland (8-7, 7-5) staved off a late rally by the Green Wave, which got two 3-point goals from Patrick Bailey in the final minute. His 3-pointers were offset by 3-of-4 free-throw shooting by the Rockets' David Lambert.
Bailey led Narrows with 16 points and Scott Vaught added 14.
\ Parry McCluer 76, Roanoke Catholic 34: In Buena Vista, the Fighting Blues (11-1) used their superior height to dominate inside, and they cruised past the Celtics (6-9) in a non-district game. Parry McCluer led 22-6 after a quarter and 43-13 at halftime. Mike McElroy led the Blues with 11 points, and Nathan Baker, Brandon Garrett and Brian Sizemore added 10 each. Deon Royer's 12 points led Roanoke Catholic.
\ Magna Vista 62, Chatham 40: In Ridgeway, center Tony Holmes and guard Mac Inge combined for 34 points and the Warriors (10-3, 10-3) never trailed in defeating the Cavaliers in a Piedmont District game. Holmes had 19 points to lead all scorers. Derick Logan had 12 points for Chatham. \
Lebanon 43, Rural Retreat 27: In Lebanon, center Nathan McGlothlin scored 12 points and the Pioneers (9-5, 8-1) overcame the Indians' slow-down game for a Hogoheegee District victory. Lebanon led 19-6 at halftime. No Rural Retreat player scored more than six points. \
Oak Hill JV 107, Carlisle 74: In Mouth of Wilson, Chevy Byrum (33) and Steve Colon (29) combined for 62 points as the Warriors whipped the Chiefs.
Carlisle got 22 points from Rod Mitchell, who made six 3-point goals, including his 60th of the season.
The Oak Hill junior varsity led 52-32 at halftime and never looked back.
